One of my goals for 2024 was to finally hang some family pictures in my home. We had family pictures done a couple years ago but never could figure out how I wanted to hang them. My upstairs hallway was the space that I had envisioned creating a family gallery wall in. I decided to start creating design boards until the space just felt right. I played around with different frames, lights, and wallpaper and finally came up with a design that I loved. The trick was to find a balance without making the hallway feel too busy. Now, the space feels defined, and I am so in love with how it turned out! Before I share with you the final reveal, below you will see my hallway gallery wall inspo board and how it looked before I got started.

Upstairs Hallway Before
Here is how my entryway used to look when you walked into my home. Back in 2020, I painted my staircase white and that made a huge difference. Adding a gallery wall was the next step. The wall at the top of the stairs was plain and just didn’t stand out. I wanted the eye to get drawn up to the second floor as soon as you walked in. One way to do that was to add either some color or wallpaper. I decided to keep in neutral while adding a fun wallpaper pattern. I can’t wait to share with you how this upstairs hallway looks now!
Upstairs Hallway After
Just like that, this space is defined! Love how the wallpaper is a fun but subtle backdrop to my family photos. I found these natural wood frames for only $25 which I thought was a great deal considering how large they were. I love the color and that they have a thick mat to make the photos really stand out.
Wallpaper Details
I worked with Wallblush to find the perfect wallpaper for this space. They have so many beautiful designs but fell in love with the Alba Cream Wallpaper. I have always been drawn to this wallpaper so I was so excited to use it in this space. The background color is a blend of beige and grey. The cranes are so beautiful and create such a fun pattern. This wallpaper also comes in black which I love too!
After hanging the wallpaper and frames, I completed the space with a couple wall sconces. They really finished off the space. I also love how the shade mimics the feathers on the crane.
Since this wall isn’t wired for the sconces, my plan is to use rechargeable light bulbs in them. I also did this in my daughter’s room and it works great. I added one of my favorite neutral hallway runners to add a bit if texture up here.
If you have an empty wall in your hallway, I highly recommend adding a family gallery wall. Hanging up a family gallery wall in your hallway is not just a home decor project; it’s a journey through cherished memories. As I walk through your hallway each day, it just makes me happy to see these beautiful family moments displayed in our home. It’s the perfect way to share your family’s love and the beauty of shared experiences. So, gather those precious moments, pick up your tools, and turn your hallway into a memorable space of your family’s love and history.
